Name discovery tool · source-aware
Full Name Generator
Combine distinct first names and surnames using independent filters for each part. Save name ideas without treating a generated pair as a person record.
01 · Choose your filters
Set your course.
Choose separate constraints for given names and surnames, then draw synthetic full names. Within one draw, neither first names nor surnames repeat. Identical first and last parts are excluded.
Inputs are processed by our generation service. They are not added to a public name bank.

Practical guide
Make this tool useful.
Filter each part independently
A character brief may call for an A-initial first name but a surname ending in N. The form keeps these constraints separate. If the result set is too small, the message identifies whether given names or surnames are the bottleneck.
Use synthetic pairs responsibly
The given name and surname come from separate aggregate data sets. Their pairing has no measured frequency and does not describe an individual in the Census. A generated name may coincidentally match someone; check your intended use.
Create a cast, not a claim
Generate a small group and compare how each name reads in context. Use the shortlist to collect candidates, then refine them for the setting and audience of your project.
Questions about this tool
Does the tool check cultural compatibility?
No. It applies only your explicit letter, length, collection, and association choices. It makes no inference about ethnicity or origin.
Can the same first name appear twice?
Not within the same draw. The same rule applies to surnames; redraws can of course bring back earlier names.
How do historical filters work?
An exact birth year (1880–2025) or decade selects given-name spellings published in the SSA national files for that period; the 2020s option covers only published years through 2025. A top-100, top-500, or top-2,000 band limits eligible names by a count-sorted position in the selected year or decade. These controls apply to given-name candidates, not surnames. A strict combination can leave too few names, and the result message will explain the shortage. This is a historical browsing filter, not a claim about a person with that name.
